Where Med Spas
Lose Bookings.

Oakland County is the most competitive med spa market in Michigan. With 18 providers in Birmingham alone and another 15 in Troy, the "easy" growth phase is over. But density isn't saturation.

I just finished a market analysis covering 28 providers across the county and Metro Detroit — including five full digital audits verified against live page source. The pattern was clear: the average Google rating is a strong 4.88, but the websites haven't kept up with the reputations. Over half the providers analyzed have no verifiable online self-booking path at all.

The Royal Oak Underserved Core

While Birmingham is crowded, Royal Oak remains underserved relative to its affluent, young-professional base: just 7 spas, against 18 in Birmingham and 15 in Troy. Density isn't saturation—the geographic gaps are real if the digital execution is right.

The "Conversion Cliff"

Across all 28 providers, the same gap kept showing up. Almost none of them put together the four things every med spa site needs to turn a visitor into a booking:

  • Clear, up-front pricing instead of "call for a quote"
  • Online booking that works in a couple of taps
  • Before/after galleries you can actually browse and search
  • The provider's credentials front and center

The stakes are real: 82% of patients say 24/7 booking availability would make them more likely to rebook, and the longer a lead waits for a reply, the colder it gets — an often-cited 2011 industry study put the drop-off in the first half hour at several-fold. Spas relying on "Book Now" buttons that lead to broken forms are losing exactly those leads.
